Refer a Friend Scheme Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction 

At Thames Travel, we are committed to recruiting talented individuals who want to work in a business which values their contribution to delivering an ever improving customer experience, whilst working as part of a team and striving for continued success. 

The “Refer a Friend” scheme is intended to encourage members of the public and our existing customers to recommend new recruits who they believe will be an asset to the Company. The Refer a Friend scheme is open to everyone who wishes to recommend a new recruit and who satisfies the qualifying criteria. 

2. Participation Criteria

2.1. The Referrer

The referrer must be over 18 and a UK resident in order to take advantage of the reward scheme and receive a month of free travel on our Thames Travel and Oxford Bus Company local bus services. 

To receive the reward as part of this scheme, the recruit introduced by the referrer must satisfy the Company criteria for the vacant position and be offered permanent employment.

2.2. The Recruit 

Any person recommended under this scheme must be new to Oxford Bus Company, Thames Travel, Carousel Buses and City Sightseeing Oxford and the Go-Ahead Group which means they must not now nor have been previously employed by Oxford Bus Company, Thames Travel, Carousel Buses and City Sightseeing Oxford or any Go-Ahead Group subsidiary. Furthermore, they must not have made any previous applications for employment to Oxford Bus Company, Thames Travel, Carousel Buses and City Sightseeing Oxford, this includes but is not limited to work experience placements, graduate trainees and apprenticeships. 

2.3. Applying to Take Part 

When applying, the recruit must include the name and contact details of the referrer within their Driver Application Pack. If the referrer’s details are not included at the time of application, we will be unable to reward the referrer with a free travel pass.

No referrals will be accepted under this scheme after the application has been submitted.

3. Reward to the Referrer 

3.1. One month of free travel explained

The reward for the referrer will be issued in a form of a key smartcard loaded with four weeks of complimentary travel within the Cityzone and South Oxfordshire Zone areas on any Thames Travel and local Oxford Bus Company buses (excluding the airline coach services). 

Please note that this offer does not include travel on Stagecoach services.

The reward cannot be exchanged for a cash reward. 

3.2. Reward timescales for drivers with a full PCV licence.

If the recruit already holds a valid PCV licence, the award will be issued automatically to the referrer after s/he has completed three months of continuous employment with Thames Travel, following the completion of their training period. As they already hold a valid PCV licence, this training will take less time than for a Trainee PCV Driver.

3.3. Reward timescales for Trainee Drivers (who do not hold a PCV licence at the time of application)

If the recruit does not already hold a valid PCV licence (at the time of recruitment), the award will be issued automatically to the referrer after s/he has completed three months of continuous employment with Thames Travel following completion of their training period. 

4. Decisions

The decision of the employing manager to offer or refuse employment will be final and may not be appealed under this or any other Company Policy. This policy forms no part of Oxford Bus Company, Thames Travel, Carousel Buses and City Sightseeing Oxford’s Recruitment Policy and referral under this scheme is no guarantee that an offer of employment will be made. 

This scheme does not form part of any Contract of Employment and may be withdrawn at any time without notice.
